How to

Set up boost-by-tag

In this guide, you’ll learn how to set up the boost-by-tag feature for recipes, including how to locate a tag ID, configure the settings, and apply different methods to increase or decrease the demand score for recipes.
Introduction to

Boost-by-tag

The boost-by-tag feature is used to adjust the demand score of recipes. This score is a key part of the automated algorithm that determines the sorting order of recipes when displayed on, eg. facet pages. The feature is configured in the Editor Interface and can be used to increase ( or decrease) internal linking to a group of recipes that share a common tag.

How to login:

  1. Go to Arla’s Editor Interface editor.arla.com and log in with your credentials.
  2. Select your instance from the list, e.g., arla-uk.

How to

Set up boosting configurations

Once you have the Tag ID, you're ready to configure boosting for it:

Go to Editor Interface

Step 1

Go to the settings section in the left-hand menu of the Editor Interface. Switch to the “Features” tab and select “Facet feature”. You will see a list of all existing boosting configurations for the current market.

Step 2

Click the “Add tag boosting configuration” option. This will add a new, empty row for your configuration.

In the first field, add the ID of the tag to be boosted with the prefix “tdb:”, eg. “tdb:7679”.

Step 3

In the second field, choose the Boosting Operation:

  • Add: Adds or subtracts a specified value to/from the demand score.
  • Multiply: Multiplies the demand score by a specified value.

Step 4

In the third field “Boosting amount”, specify the value for the operation:

  • For “Add”, you can enter eg. “300” to increase the demandscore by 300 points, or -1000 to reduce it. A large negative value like -5000 can significantly lower its ranking.
  • For “Multiply”, use a positive number only. For example, 0.5 halves the original DemandScore, while 3 triples it.

Step 5

Once all fields are completed, click the “Save” button at the top of the page.

Considerations

  • Multiple boosts can be configured for a single tag - system will only use the configuration with the most impact on the demand score.
  • If both are configured for a single tag; negative boosts are always used over positive ones.
  • The calculations for the boost-by-tag feature are run by the system once a day. Therefore, you won't see the results immediately, but rather the day after.
